Kayaking and Fishing on our Private Beach

Avenue of the Giants
Avenue of the Giants
It is by far the most outstanding display of the giant coastal redwoods trees in the entire 500-mile redwood belt and is accessible to all with convenient services provided along the way. The Avenue of the Giants is surrounded by the Humboldt Redwoods State Park which has the largest remaining stand of virgin redwoods in the world. This is a historical and educational museum that brings the community an appreciation and understanding of the culture and heritage of Ferndale, the Eel River and Mattole Valleys. The museum publishes a magazine, produce original documentary videos, conduct tours of historic houses and businesses, stage photography exhibits, publish original biographies and historic cookbooks, and maintain a constantly enriched and varied collection. Founders Grove

Founders Grove is as big in popularity as it is in size. It is the most visited grove in Humboldt and is a major North Coast redwood attraction, and for good reason. Don’t be surprised if you fnd yourself next to a neighborly wanderer like yourself staring up at the massive Redwoods. Getting here is easy, maybe too easy. Founders Grove is located next to the Highway 101 off-ramp straight through the Avenue of the Giants.

Put on your waterproof shoes and head over to the Humboldt Bay Wildlife Refuge. Located on the southernmost end of Humboldt Bay, the Wildlife Refuge is a great place to walk flat land trails, see wildlife, and explore wetland habitats. Typically, the best time to view the wildlife is at dawn and dusk but will depend on the tide levels. Come experience the world-renowned Humboldt Bay Oyster Tour. Depending on where you would like to start your tour you can book a motorboat from Woodley Island or rent a kayak from the Arcata Marsh. Shelter Cove is a small ocean front community that offers a few restaurants, a deli, and a bar with gorgeous views. Gyppo Ale Mill serves a nice variety of beers, lunch & dinner. Black Sands Beach is wonderful for taking a stroll or you can drive on it near the marina. There is a 9-hole golf course overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The drive there provides a peak into the King Range National Conservation Area. This is truly wild land! Stretching between Shelter Cove to the south and the Mattole River to the north, the Lost Coast is a wild land of forests, fog, waves, and sand and is only accessible to backpackers/hikers. This is real adventure. About 37 miles southwest from us.
